Gabe Salazar is a dynamic conductor, tenor, clinician, and music educator whose work has inspired musicians and audiences nationwide for over two decades. Recognized for his commanding leadership, emotional depth, and deeply inclusive approach, Gabe is dedicated to elevating artists and creating transformative musical experiences that reflect the full spectrum of human identity and connection.
Now in his fifth season as Artistic Director of the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida, Gabe leads with vision and purpose, driving a period of significant artistic growth and organizational momentum. Under his direction, the chorus has expanded to nearly 200 singers and has delivered critically acclaimed performances alongside celebrated artists such as Deborah Cox, Shoshana Bean, Amber Riley, and Todrick Hall. His bold programming has brought large-scale productions like Disney PRIDE in Concert to life, further positioning GMCSF as a national leader in LGBTQ+ choral excellence.
In addition to his work with GMCSF, Gabe serves the Artistic Advisor in Residence for GALA Choruses and as Director of Music at Sunshine Cathedral. A highly sought-after clinician and guest conductor, he is known for his ability to quickly build trust, raise artistic standards, and inspire singers to perform at their highest level. In 2025, he appeared as guest conductor for the Turtle Creek Chorale for their Disney Pride in Concert.
Gabe holds a Master of Music in Voice from Lee University and has pursued advanced studies in choral conducting at California State University, Fullerton. His career spans professional performance and academic leadership, with past appointments at the United Methodist Church of Thousand Oaks, Grand Canyon University, and the Osceola County School of the Arts. As a performer, he has appeared with premier ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Chorusand Pacific Chorale. His leadership has guided multiple award-winning programs, highlighted by a 2019 Carnegie Hall debut following a national competition win.
